Allegation of certificate forgery against government institutions

Certificate forgery has been detected. This is a very alarming event in our country. Arrest of the Technical Education Board Officer 

At mid-night on March 31, Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police arrested Mr. Sumsuzzaman, a senior system analyst of the Technical Education Board. Later, the Technical Education Board suspended him temporarily. On April 1, 2024, the Education Minister, Mr. Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel, declared to launch a purification campaign to stop the irregulates and corruption.  On April 21, the police arrested the wife of Ali Akbor, Chairman of the Technical Education Board, for the allegation of being involved in irregularities. Then, the Ministry of Education issued a notice of OSD to the Chairman of the Technical Education Board, Mr. Ali Akbor. Allegation of certificate forgery against Technical Education Board

The police have captured a list of certificates and marksheets that were sold in exchange for money. The police have collected this list of fake certificates and marksheets from the temporarily suspended senior system analyst of the Technical Education Board, Mr. A K M Samsuzzan. These lists are under verification now.

On May 12, 2024, the additional DB commissioner, Md. Harunur Rashid, informed this matter at a press conference at his office situated in Minto Road of the capital. He said some officers, including Samsuzzaman are selling certificates and marksheets in exchange for money year after year. Sumsuzzaman has given us information on how to identify the sales certificates and marksheets. He also added that we will inform the secretary and related officers of the technical education board of this issue. Besides, we shall take measures on how to do the work with the help of experts of BUET.

Some journalists demanded a bonus for Eid while Sumsuzzaman was on remand to us. In view of this, we have interrogated him. In the interrogation, he informed us when, how, and how much money was given to which journalists. Mr. Harunur Rashid also said DB Officers are communicating with the officers of related institutions.

In replying to a question from a journalist, Mr. Harunur Rashid said, “Samsuzzam thinks that some brokers are moving around the chairman of the Technical Education Board. Besides, journalists and the anti-corruption commission investigate irregularities. If they are also by his side, then he can trade the fake certificate on a large scale. That’s why he built a large network. Mr. Samsuzzaman, with his associate Faisal, prepares fake certificates in a separate house. That’s why various people communicate with him.

Mr. Harunur said we have communicated with the high officials of the Anti-Corruption Commission. Then the Commission have formed a committee of 3 members to investigate the issue.
